A Taste of HiloJCCIH

This committee coordinates the registered event with the dedicated culinary establishments to showcase their food artistry. The Hawaii Community College is the beneficiary of this educational fundraiser and provides scholarships to worthy recipients and assists with funding to faculty and staff development.

Communications & Marketing Committee

This committee works to keep members apprised of programs and Chamber committee activities.  Volunteers plan and coordinate opportunities to increase awareness of the Chamber through publicity, events, collaborations, printed materials, web pages, and social media.  Opportunities to get involved as a volunteer include helping the Chamber to manage the website, promote upcoming events, design Chamber-branded visual graphics, photography, writing, and coordinating a variety of social media.

Economic Development/ Government Affairs

This combined committee develops and implements a plan of action to assist in developing and retenting new business and industries;  promotes activities that create a stable and healthy economy, and promotes a liaison with government and elected officials to present our issues and interests.

This committee plans and coordinates appropriate variety of educational activities within the community; supports the Department of Education, Hawaii Community College and University of Hawaii at Hilo. Plans informative workshops with up-dates to keep the membership knowledgeable of current matters.

The golf committee coordinates the Annual Golf Classic Tournament; the inter-Chamber, Home and Home and Friendship Golf Tournaments to form camaraderie among other Chambers and networking with other golfing groups.

International Festival of the Pacific

This committee coordinates the festival to foster goodwill through social activities including the popular Lantern Parade when the heavy O-Mikoshi is carried through Hilo town by the energetic and boisterous cadets. This event fosters camaraderie among the officers and cadets of the Japan Maritime National Institute for Sea Training and our United States Military personnel with our Chamber and the community.

Political Action

Evaluates and support endorsed candidates for State and County offices.

Social and Cultural & Membership Development

Coordinates social and cultural activities to encourage fellowship and networking among our members; General Membership meetings, Goji-Kara social mixer activities and the annual Installation Reception.  Broadens the membership base; encourages member participation in all aspects of our organization; oversees the membership dues structure.
